Valentine’s Day has a different meaning for everyone. If you are in a relationship, you want to appreciate the one you are with. If you are out of one, perhaps you cherish being alone or reflect on time with past loves. It’s also a great day to show your love to your kids or the animals in your life!

You have to hand it to Steel Panther. For a band that most people see as a parody band, they have no problem packing in the crowd at Bogart’s on a Wednesday night. Their throwback style and sound of the 80’s sleazy glam rock attracts not only fans of Heavy Metal but people looking to have a good night away from the everyday mundane stress of a typical work week, Fans came out with their wives and girlfriends and dressed in their finest spandex and acid washed denim.

The HU have taken the world by storm with their video for the song, “Yuve Yuve Yu,” which quickly became a YouTube sensation with over 25 million views. With their traditional Mongolian instrumentation and throat singing, mixed with Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, The HU are one of those fresh and exciting acts that come along once every few years. 

Time to stock up on the party liquor folks. Unknown Hinson is headed to the Southgate House Revival this Saturday, September 21st.

KISS brought “End of the Road Tour” to Riverbend for yet another farewell tour on Thursday night. Whether or not the “hottest band in the world” actually hang up the costumes and put away the grease paint after this tour is up for debate. What isn’t up for debate, however, is their ability to put on a high octane, pulse pounding, electrifying stage show.

Few bands can live up to the legacy that is Iron Maiden. They have influenced the likes of Metallica, Ghost and countless others, even local bands such as Solar Flare. And with good reason too. Iron Maiden has been an unstoppable force since forming in East London way back in 1975. For any band to stay relevant for that long and still pack arenas and each and every show is a truly amazing feat.

Eric Payne, Verment’s bassist and vocalist took some time to talk about their influences, excitement to see old friends perform at the upcoming Cincinnati Metal Scene Reunion and the importance of supporting your local music scene.

Sure it can be tough sometimes waiting for the main act to finally take the stage and some openers aren’t quite up to snuff, but every now and then you are going to witness something fresh, new and soon to be on your playlist.
