Melodic Connections is a non-profit community music therapy studio that serves 600 individuals in the community, providing services to all ages and abilities. They prepare their students for the community and prepare the community for their students. At Melodic Connections, each voice is unique and every voice will be heard.
On August 28th, Melodic Connections was devastated by the floods that rolled through the Greater Cincinnati area. The flooding in the non-profit’s studio space caused inordinate damage to the instruments that these students use to discover the joy of performing music. On top of this, the studio does not have flood insurance. The surmounting bills threaten to silence those voices for good.
A Go Fund Me campaign has been started, but Matt Mooney, a local musician, wanted to do more. He reached out to The Southgate House Revival and Cincinnati musicians and in a matter of just a few days, put together this benefit.
Music > Water is a benefit to be held at The Southgate House Revival on Thursday, October 6th to raise funds to help offset the costs incurred by the flood damage and to try and help restore this integral part of the Cincinnati Music Community. Sixteen local Cincinnati acts have stepped up and dedicated performances for a night of togetherness, friendship and most importantly, music.
Music is greater than water, and the Cincinnati Music Community won’t let the voices of Melodic Connections be silenced.
