NKY Nonprofit Hosts Free Biking and Music Festival

Dave Huff, Executive Director of grassroots nonprofit Riding Forward, has a lifelong passion for all things bike. In recent years his focus has turned to instilling that same passion in Northern Kentucky’s young people.

That’s what Huff and his team of cycling enthusiasts hopes to achieve with the first annual Broken Spoke Festival, a free, two-day event that will feature local music, art, food trucks and bike racing events that include BMX Dirt Jump, BMX Best Trick, Dual Slalom, Short Track Madness and a Tri-State 6HR Race.

Riding Forward was founded in 2014 to help communities thrive through advocacy, education and partnerships involving cycling and outdoor activity.

“Our tag line, 'creating a better future through wheeled sports,' will ring loudly throughout the event,” said Huff. “Bringing bikes, music, art and food together for a two-day festival is our attempt to bring the community together and build a stronger bond between cycling and the Tristate."

Airheads Candy will sponsor the festival, and proceeds will fund ongoing initiatives and programs designed to inspire outdoor engagement through bike riding.
