Annapalooza: A Benefit for Anna Mouch

A little over a year ago one of my really great friends Anna Mouch was diagnosed with non-hodgkin’s lymphoma.Non-hodgkin lymphoma, or NHL, or just lymphoma is basically a type of cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system. Lymphocytes are in the lymph nodes and lymphoid tissue, to which there are lymph noid tissues all throughout the body.

The news of this initially was hard to take in. A million thoughts race through your head. What about Auggie? Auggie is Anna and Sean Geil’s two year old son. What about Anna? How serious is this? Is it life threatening? Little by little we were given the information that she caught this fairly early and with treatment she should pull through. With those treatments and the constant doctor’s visits a couple of Anna’s friends decided why not rally all the musician’s we know and put together a benefit show for her. To simply lightened the load for her and Sean. So they did, and the pouring out for well wishes and people coming and the bands playing has moved many people. Most notably, miss Anna Mouch.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Anna for great long time, and this lymphoma chose the wrong person to mess with. Anna is a strong lady, warm, and caring, honest, and fun loving. I remember taking a road trip with her to Chicago to go see The Tillers and just having a great time. Talking and simply enjoying the open road. It was a trip that I have thanked her for, but would like to do it here as well.

With all this said, Anna is an amazing woman and when word started floating around about putting together some kind of benefit show it seemed only fitting to have the music community pull together and pay forward the support that she has always lent. Anna is still going through treatment which if I have this correct, this next bout of treatment should be like a cleaning out. Getting the treatment to hopefully kick all the cancer out. If I do not have that right my apologies, and if that is the case you the reader should come the Southgate House Revival for Annapalooza. 20 bands, raffles, silent auctions, and yes Anna will be there as well, so you could even ask her if you would like. I would just like to say thank you to Anna. For being a great friend for all these years. For all the laughs, and the stories, and the me needing a ride home from some late nights. I look forward to many more of these moments hopefully, and wish you Anna Mouch, nothing but love and a speedy recovery.
