Indie rock sensations Real Estate will be making MidPoint Music Festival 2014 all the more memorable with a special happy hour performance.
The MidPoint Music Festival returns to Downtown and Over-the-Rhine on September 25–27. The free MidPoint Midway Stage presented by P&G is set outdoors on 12th Street between Vine and Walnut Streets and will offer live music for people of all ages, as well as food trucks, merchandise, and art installations curated by ArtWorks.
2014 has become a breakout year for Real Estate after releasing their third album, Atlas. The album has made several “best of” the year lists, including Spin, Paste, Stereogum, Mojo, Amazon Music, Time Magazine, and many more. Pitchfork gave the recording their esteemed “Best New Music” tag.
"P&G is proud to sponsor the Midpoint Music Festival and the Midway Stage for a second year,” said Barbara Hauser, P&G community relations manager.
"This year we invite the whole community to come out early and enjoy a free show featuring Real Estate on Friday night. We wanted to bring a unique opportunity for everyone to experience the amazing music scene in Cincinnati.”
Friday is already anticipated to be popular, with hometown heroes The Afghan Whigs in Washington Park and WHY? at the Taft Ballroom. But those showcases are later in the night. The early Real Estate set will be a great incentive to head down to the Midway and kick off the festival proper.
A major component to the Midway is the vibrant street festival atmosphere, due in large part to the art installations and entertainment coordinated by MidPoint partner organization ArtWorks. To commemorate this year's launch of their exciting project Cincy Ink, ArtWorks will set up different “ink-based” interactive experiences.
Details on the activities and artists involved will be announced in the coming weeks.

You don't need a ticket to hang out and enjoy the stellar music lineup at the Midway. Bands will begin at 5 p.m. each day. Besides Real Estate, bands for this stage include Magnolia Sons, Colony House, Low Cut Connie, Automagik, Knox Hamilton, Black Owls, The Yugos, Bailiff, The Ready Stance, and Alex G.
