Mavis Guitar Releases New Single Ahead of Album, Release Show Next Month

Friend of CincyMusic and all around good dude Travis Talbert (guitarist, Frontier Folk Nebraska) is set to release his latest album under the moniker of Mavis Guitar. Tony Delk’s 53 Point Game will be available to purchase next month, on Friday, March 24.

If you’ve listened to any of the Mavis Guitar catalog, this one’s likely to be a genuine surprise. This time around Travis is joined by his brother, Wil, on drums, for their first ever musical collaboration. It may have been years in the making, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. Big 70’s rock vibes, full of energy, lots of lovely guitar work, and the drums really do fill everything out so nicely - I really, really dig it. RIYL Michael Rother, Bill Evans, Tom Bukovac, and even some microtonal stuff.

To get folks ready for it’s impending release, we’re excited to share the first track off Tony Delk’s 53 Point Game, titled “Beach Comber.” You can check out the single right now on Bandcamp, where you can also snag a pre-order for the album. There are even a limited number of hand-assembled CDr’s available for those who dig physical media (like me).

In true Cincy fashion, Mavis Guitar will be celebrating the release of the new album with a free live show at The Southgate House Revival on Sunday, March 26. Joining Mavis Guitar in the Lounge will be Maria Carrelli and Michael Hensley, both playing sets of their own fantastic music. Be sure to let Travis & co. know you’re coming - RSVP here.
