Remembering a Friend - Local Bands Play Benefit Show This Friday at SGHR

This October, members of Covington, KY math rock band Old Pictures / New Pictures were faced with the untimely death of a close friend, Jon Wells. Jon leaves behind his family and his son, Oliver. The benefit show, ultimately, is meant to help offset some of the strains and costs of his passing, and will raise funds for a trust to be created in Jon’s name for Oliver. In true, and wonderful, Cincinnati DIY fashion, the band is calling on some good friends to help bring folks to the Southgate House Revival this Friday night.

The show’s bill flaunts not just Old Pictures / New Pictures avant-indie penchant for off-time noodly riffs and good vibes, but heavier sounds from fellow KY musicians, post-hardcore band Scenario. Joining them on the acoustic side, Cincinnati mainstay and all around good dude, John Hays (trust us, you’ve probably seen him play). Moth Priest provides some stoner metal groove, while newcomers Tight Grip go flatout hardcore. It’s a well-rounded night with a little something for everyone - and since it’s for a good cause, we’re sure they’re each going to bring it during their sets.

The Jon Wells Memorial and Benefit Show is ALL AGES, with doors opening at 7:30 and music starting at 8.
