Tonight is the kickoff concert for what is arguably the best series lineup yet for MidPoint Indie Summer. Free concerts will be held on the square every Friday night now through September.
Surfer Blood is headlining the evening with local favorites The Yugos, Automagik, and Harbour!
We hope that you attend tonight’s show, not only because of the great music, but to help support Surfer Blood’s ailing guitarist, Thomas Fekete, who is battling a very rare and aggressive cancer.
The band has a great new album, 1000 Palms, and has continued performing while Thomas is working to get treatment. This is a free concert, but donations through Thomas’ GoFundMe and merchandise purchases at shows can help his cause.
Sadly, Surfer Blood’s van was broken into this weekend outside of Chicago. Donations for Thomas’ medical expenses from a handful of shows were stolen, along with other various guitar pedals, laptops, etc.
Just attending MidPoint Indie Summer would mean a lot to the band in this difficult time, but fans buying merchandise will be helping a musician who has had to stop performing and can no longer support himself.
