Record Store Day kicks off this Saturday featuring one of a kind albums, artwork, and performances around the country. RSD began in 2007 with a mission to honor independent record stores worldwide and provide customers with an opportunity to purchase artwork, through various mediums, from their favorite artists. Locally, record stores will open early for music lovers to snag their favorite artists' exclusive works and gain bragging rights amongst friends. Here is a list of some record shops, performances, and local music releases that will satisfy your musical cravings.
Moles Record Exchange
111 Calhoun St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45219
Hours: 11:30 AM-7:00 PM
Specials: Including selling Record Store Day exclusives, Moles will also feature rare vinyl LP’s. When asked what titles they have to feature this Saturday, Tom, an employee of the shop, listed a few and said, “There’s too many to name, we have so much to choose from”. Cincinnati’s oldest record shop will also have grub on site, so you can eat while perusing their monstrous selection.

Foo Fighters fans rejoice! The band will have an intimate performance at Record Connection in Warren, Ohio where Record Store Day ambassador Dave Grohl, was born and bred. This ticketed event (tickets are given with pre-order of their RSD release, "Songs of the Laundry Room") is only available for purchase in person. Stick around after their performance for one of my favorite Columbus artists, Angela Perley & The Howlin' Moons.
Tons of amazing shit from your favorite national bands will be released on Saturday as well. Expect releases from Wu-Tang Clan, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Dolly Parton, and Courtney Barnett among so many others. I plan to be within the crowds this weekend sipping coffee in line, in anticipation of my purchase of "Atlanta" from Mastodon. A comprehensive list of treats available for purchase is located on the Record Store Day website, along with names and addresses of record stores worldwide. Happy hunting music lovers!
