Forged by the fires of childhood, Magefist (Drew Baverman) & EleMental (Michael Hood) connected on a higher wavelength early in life. They grew from solving Rubix Cubes in grade school, to smoking weed and experimenting with psychedelics together after high school. After discovering their love for playing guitar, and all things related to creating music, focus eventually shifted to become heavily centralized around the Underground Hip-Hop community. Years later, and fully immersed in the vast realm of Hip-Hop, the two childhood friends decided to embark on their own journey, and formed the duo WeirDose in the Fall of 2016.
WeirDose, is a lyrically driven voyage throughout the minds and thoughts of
Mage & E. They are able to take you through the harshest realities of everyday life, personal struggle, and triumph, while painting metaphoric pictures of the world in which we live and how they perceive it.
Starting off 2017 with a mission to make their mark in the local scene, they began organizing their own events and bringing artists together in the name of a good time, and so it began! After unorthodoxly releasing singles throughout winter, WeirDose got serious, collaborated with local producer Once-A-Day-Beats, and dropped their Debut EP "Integrity" in the Spring of 2017. The project consisted of 7 in your face, boombap heavy tracks, with guest features by Docktor Speckter, Satyr Circle, scratching by DMC Champion DJ SpareChange, and Artwork by Ohio native, ill Poetic.
In the summer of 2017, following the release of "Integrity" they started work on more events, submitting to festivals, connecting with other local artists, and beginning to book their first out of state shows. The remainder of 2017 quickly filled up with supporting roles on local shows for touring artists such as Open Mike Eagle, Cannibal Ox, Dope KNife, The Palmer Squares, Eyenine and more. In just a short time they were able to generate festival buzz by being booked to perform at festivals such as Columbus' 2x2 Hip-Hop Fest, Detroit's End of Summer Fest, Geek Out Fest in Oxford, as well as Stanley's Summer Music Festival and A.Y.E Music and Arts Festival in Cincinnati.
In the fall of 2017 they teamed up with local record label Grasshopper Juice Records, and began working on their first full length album "Fire In The Brain" with label Founder/CEO/Producer, Nick Mitchell aka Juan Cosby. The album is set to release on 5/5/18, at the Northside Yacht Club, featuring a performance by Carnage the Executioner. WeirDose x Juan Cosby will be touring this summer to follow up the release of their album, as they show no signs of slowing their pace.
