Cincinnati art pop artist Maria Keck is back with a simple, solemn, lovely track today. Called “Lawnmowers,” the song features a subdued and pensive vocal performance over a repeating piano line - and nothing else.
“I wrote this song in a stream of consciousness style, attempting to paint more of an abstract feeling than to tell an actual story. The simplicity of the keyboard and the stripped-down production were intentional, adding to the dreamlike, minimalist qualities of the song as a whole. To me, it's playful, melancholy, and bittersweet all at once,” Keck says of the single.
