Get To The Gig: For One Night Only, Mad Anthony Returns

Unless you’re new to the area, or have been living under a rock for the past 10 or so years, chances are you know who Mad Anthony is. And honestly, if there’s like, a welcome package or something for when you do move to Cincinnati, they’re probably included in the pamphlet. If not, they should be.

So, friends, here we are. It’s June 2022, and after several years of inactivity - life, it seems, does what it can to keep these guys busy - Mad Anthony are back together and ready to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their self-titled album this Friday, June 3.

I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to the band to find out what’s going on, so friend of CincyMusic and mohawked Southgate House Revival bard Adam Flaig filled us in on all the juicy details…

Let’s talk a bit about how this show came about - why now?

This Friday, June 3 will be the 10 year anniversary of the release of our self titled album. To celebrate, we are playing it front-to-back along with a handful of fan favorites from later releases.

You’re holding this one at the Southgate House Revival, which is a home away from home for a lot of local bands, and definitely for you guys. What is it about SGHR, for the band, that makes this kind of “homecoming” what it is…

There’s no place more special to us than Southgate House. We cut our teeth at the old location in the early 2000’s and played our “Farewell Show” at the current spot a few years ago. Ross and Morrella are our family and their support and encouragement have been so crucial to Mad Anthony’s development. Southgate House is our home and we wanted to share this special night with our Rock n Roll family.

I’m hearing rumors that this is a “black tie affair?” Tell us more about that!

Ha, well that was actually just a joke. But if you want to dress up, please do! Mad Anthony will be looking shabby as to not upstage anyone.

What can fans expect at Friday’s show? New music? The “hits?” New merch?

Expect to sweat, a la a Parlour show at the original Southgate House location. Big show in a small room. It is a FREE show in the Lounge, so it will fill up fast.

Expect to hear ‘Mad Anthony’ (S/T album) and some other hits.

Expect NEW MERCH! New shirts, hats, and more!

Expect a big sweaty hug from Mad Anthony.

Anything else you want to let everyone know about before the show?

We have some very special friends joining us on the bill. JIMS (stewards of Newport, KY) will be playing as well as Mad Anthology collaborators, The By Gods from Nashville, TN. It’s FREE. It’s ALL AGES.

So, we hope to see you Friday!

There you have it, folks. THIS Friday, June 3 at 9pm at the illustrious Southgate House Revival, witness the return of Cincinnati’s own Mad Anthony. RSVP and get whatever other details there are right here. Just get to the gig!
