Today is the three-year anniversary of the van accident that nearly took the lives of Mad Anthony. “Teach Me How to Feel” reflects on the story of that day.
From the band:
Today, June 29, marks the three-year anniversary of our horrific accident on I-65. We're all lucky to be alive, walking and talking. It still haunts us to this day and for a while we danced around talking about. We even denied rumors that Sank For Days was a concept album about the accident (although, I'm sure it was obvious to many). We refused to let one brief moment in our history define our legacy as a band. We didn't want to be known as the "Accident Band" or something silly like that...so, instead we tried to put it as far behind as possible.
But now, I think a major wound has healed. We've proven to ourselves we're bigger than the unfortunate hand we were dealt. We've learned to accept the love and wisdom the music community poured onto us in the weeks immediately following our brush with death. We're a better band because of it. This week's song, "Teach Me How To Feel" is a result of that.
There are no words to adequately thank our family, friends, fans and supporters, but we will always try. It's easy to look back with regret, but instead we reflect on those dark days and know that brighter days and adventures lie ahead.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
Love,
Ringo & Mad Anthony
