MPMF Preview: Arum Rae is Your New Warranted Queen

Arum Rae should be on your must see list for Midpoint Music Festival. Arum is touring in support of her entrancing Warranted Queen EP, that was released in April. She is phenomenal live, the kindof voice you have to see live to believe it. Arum is no stranger to the stage. In the past few years, she's shared stages w/ Willie Nelson, Gary Clark Jr., BB King, The Civil Wars, Rodriguez, and Dan Auerbach, just to name a few.

We sat down with the sultry Arum Rae prior to MPMF to talk songwriting, experiences and feeling your heart.

CP: Give us some background on Arum Rae…
AR: I've been writing, singing and touring out of my car for the last ten years, traveling from my families cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains to now living in NYC part time

CP: You have shared the stage with some heavy hitters. What have been some of your most memorable experiences thus far?
AR: The most memorable experience was opening up for Sixto Rodriguez and watching him play, also singing backgrounds for The Kills at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. I could barely concentrate on my part because I was mesmerized watching Alison and Jamie.

CP: Tell us about your songwriting process…
AR: Songwriting happens in all different ways for me; in my head driving down the road, sitting with my guitar or during a practice/soundcheck. Finishing them is the hard part... ideas come all day long.

CP: What can one expect from a live performance from Arum Rae?
AR: Hopefully to feel their heart.

CP: What is next for Arum Rae?
AR: Enjoying each day as it comes!
