Brooklyn's fuzzy garage rock trio Unicycle Loves You will be live on July 12th at MOTR Pub with Motel Beds! The band is hitting the road in support of their new album The Dead Age that came out June 10th.
The Dead Age was produced by the ULY's own Jim Carroll and mastered by Shellac's Bob Weston… if their previous album Failure was their mission statement to add a dirty, unpolished edge to pop music, then The Dead Age is the sound of Unicycle Loves You completely dismantling it, simultaneously paying homage to J Mascis and Captain Beefheart.
We sat down with the talented Jim Carroll to get some history on this band prior to the show!
Give us some backstory on Unicycle Loves You…
The band started years ago in Chicago as a solo project, and was more of a concept than a band. Fast forward 8 years and we now live in Brooklyn with 4 albums under our belt. It's been a wild time.
How did you come up with your band name?
We don't think much of band names. They hardly ever convey what a band sounds like anymore. We just didn't ever want to be part of a fleeting trend and figured that nobody would ever name themselves something like Unicycle Loves You. It literally means nothing and allows us to sound however we want.
What can one expect at a live Unicycle Loves You show?
Unbridled force and face-melting fun.
What is next for Unicycle Loves You?
We're going to just keep going and going and going and going....more albums, more touring, more noise. Forever.
