Get Your Country On With Buckle Up

We’re barely rested from this past weekend’s Bunbury Music Festival, but Bunbury founder Bill Donabedian has another helping of music for us. This weekend (July 18-19-20) is the inaugural Buckle Up Music Festival, celebrating country and folk music at Cincinnati’s Sawyer Point & Yeatman’s Cove.

Buckle Up brings headliners Alabama, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, and The Band Perry–plus tons of great undercards like Old Crow Medicine Show and Drive-By Truckers. Dive into the lineup to find a new groove–it’s more diverse than you might expect.

We’ve also partnered with the Bellwether Sessions and Iron Wing Recording Studios to film and release videos from the festival. Watch our media page for these videos from several artists including Eric Paslay, Sleepy Man Banjo Boys, and Sam Hunt.

Kentucky Timbre is a Family Affair

At the center of a stage full of people are two men with the kind of presence that comes from years of playing their songs.  On the fiddle and occasionally a mouth bow he calls a “claw stick”, Uncle Mike Carr leans into the old songs he has played for as long as he’s been playing music. ...

Travel Back in Time with The Tillers

Leave behind the fast-paced, busy today, and travel to a time when people played music on their back porches for the simple love of music, and family and friends entertained each other through sing-alongs.  Since 2007, the Tillers have been doing just that.  Beginning on Ludlow Street in Clifton,...

Logan Brill Brings Poignant Country to Buckle Up

Since the release of Logan Brill's breakout debut album 'Walking Wires,' it's been quite a year for the 23-year-old Knoxville native, to say the least.  Brill seemed right at home performing in front of 15,000 fans alongside The Band Perry in Virginia Beach a couple of weeks ago, and has since...

New Album by Buckle Up Folks, Old Crow Medicine Show

If you are looking for a remedy to ail your music needs, Old Crow Medicine Show is the answer.  The quintet (Critter Fuqua, Keven Hayes, Morgan Jahnig, Ketch Secor, and Willie Watson), all from different states, formed in New York fifteen years ago.  After busking on the streets of New York and...

Reality Check with KT: Meet Lonesome Jared

Meet Lonesome Jared; Old Country with a Modern Appeal Some years back, 5 maybe, there wasn’t all that much country music happening here in town.  We’re always heavy with Indy, Rock and Americana music, but other than Dallas Moore, Straw Boss and a few others, not too many bands were...

Buckle Up Band Jamison Road Set to Release Let It Rain

Cincinnati-based country trio Jamison Road has enjoyed success locally and nationally with their blend of country vocals, soaring harmonies, and driving guitar work.  Their sophomore album Let It Rain, due for release August 12 of this year, captures the balance of each member’s own influences...

Buckle Up Artist Noah Smith to Release EP at tSGHR

You can feel Southern Ohio in Noah Smith’s music.  American Rock and Roll with a country accent fills the room when Smith takes the stage. The singer/songwriter musician has been writing and signing since he was just 12 years old growing up along the banks of the Ohio in Brown County.  Now the...
