Hidden Hospitals will arrive in Cincinnati for the first time in over a year this Wednesday June 19th, set to play The Southgate House Revival’s Revival Room, with 3 great, local acts. Hailing from Chicago and comprised of members of two now defunct acts (Damiera and Kiss Kiss), Hidden Hospitals touts incredible technical proficiency and a flawless, energetic live set. Their current tour finds the 4-piece progressive rock outfit traversing the eastern half of the U.S. in support of two fantastic, self-produced EPs, 001 and 002, now available as a critically hailed double 12” vinyl set. The end of this tour will find them heading in to the studio to work on their first proper full-length. Technical prowess and innate, powerful songwriting anchor each EP, creating an atmospheric and lush sonic landscape, cohesive and consistent in execution, emotional and intense to absorb. Easily one of independent music’s most enthralling acts, Hidden Hospitals deserves every bit of the attention they’ve received, and are sure to continue to receive as they move forward.
Providing local support, Lebanon melodic indie rock band The Monument bring their signature-style – danceable, technical, and emotionally charged indie-tinged rock – back to The Southgate House Revival, after having opened for Polyenso in March, and playing a packed record release show last month at another local venue. They will be the headliners on June 19th, and rightfully so. This is a band on the cusp, ready to make some big moves this summer.
Cincinnati rock gets a more emotional, atmospheric injection by way of Northbound, a recently formed quintet already making significant waves in the SW Ohio music scene. The band consists of members from several now dormant SW Ohio music projects, and it shows. After having debuted at The Southgate House Revival in March with Columbus’ The End of The Ocean, Northbound has worked hard and has grown a significant fanbase in a relatively short amount of time.
Starting things out for the evening are Cincinnati band West Ghost, an alternative/indie rock act fronted, not defined by, a female vocalist, which happen to (unfortunately) be few and far between in the area. High energy, tight musicianship, and an emphasis on the Rock means you should get there early, as they’re likely to have those in attendance begging for more, and excited for their next performance.
This show promises to highlight everything great about Cincinnati’s young, talented bands and new, thriving local music scene, anchored by what will absolutely be a banner performance by the experienced and infinitely talented Hidden Hospitals. This is not a show to miss. We hope to see you there.
