Ingrid Woode, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, is a multi-instrumentalist and vocal musician.  She is a Tuskegee University graduate, where she became a member of the Gamma Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in the fall of 2005.  After graduating from Tuskegee University, Ingrid used her science degree working as a chemist to invest in recording equipment.  Influenced by years of exposure to a diverse collection of artists, Ingrid found her unique soulful sound through songwriting, composing, recording, producing, and performing her increasing catalogue of original music. She is a classically trained violinist and plays all instruments used to record her compositions.

Ingrid Woode won a People’s Choice Award songwriting contest, which afforded her the opportunity to work with Queen Latifah and have her self-produced song “Fair Weather Friend “added as a bonus track on Latifah’s albumPersona on iTunes. She performed in a month long music tour in Spain, Portugal, and Italy in December 2011. Ingrid has written for Grammy Award winning vocalist Lalah Hathaway, daughter of the late Donny Hathaway, for Lalah’s 2011 album release Where It All Begins.  Ingrid released her album Too Weak's Notice in 2011 through her production company IWOODE Productions. In March of 2011 Ingrid completed scoring the classical orchestration of her song When This Life Is Over from her album Too Weak's Notice. She performed the piece with the internationally renowned Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and a 150 member chorus for a sold out crowd at Cincinnati's Music Hall.

Ingrid describes her music as, "Soul.  It’s acoustic soul, electronic soul, folk soul, R&B soul…shoot, Hip Hop soul. But if I had to describe it in just one word, I’d have to say Soul.”

Ingrid has completed her latest project Going Live in Five, a live studio EP album and DVD, with band members from Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia. Ingrid decided to bring all of her loyal bandmates together who have played with her during her time as a student at Tuskegee University and her life in Cincinnati to form The Woode Tribe Orchestra. The project was recorded in one day at Ultrasuede Studios (the old historic QCA studios) in Cincinnati. The session was mixed and mastered by Robert “Big Brizz” Brisbane, an industry sound engineer whom Ingrid met and worked with during a recording session for Queen Latifah’s “Persona” album. The entire live recording session was captured all on video. The DVD will include footage from the recording session, plus behind the scenes footage of rehearsals, road trips, scary moments leading up to the recording, how the vision of the band was created, and much more. The group is scheduled to perform at the Fairfield Community Arts Center on Saturday October 25, 2014. Ingrid Woode and the Woode Tribe Orchestra will debut the release of Going Live in Five at the concert event in Fairfield, OH.

Going Live in Five is a 5 song EP/DVD that triggers all 5 senses! As a musician the process of recording a body of work and the act of performing it for a crowd of people (no matter how big or small), are two completely different beasts.   One is about capturing a moment as best as you are able, and the other is about creating a moment.  This project captures and creates both. No overdubs, no punch-ins, no “you record the drum tracks on this day and you record your vocals next week”. The Woode Tribe Orchestra recorded this project the way most bands did back in the day: hit the record button, let everyone play and sing together. Get the best take and have as much fun as possible.

Ingrid Woode and The Woode Tribe Orchestra have recorded a piece of work that is an extension of all of their creative influences. It’s a mix of Soul, Gospel, Classical, Jazz, Blues, Alternative, Afro Cuban, and so much more; yet it all fits together in a cohesive musical package. What Ingrid Woode loves the most is that she gets to do what she loves with people who are like family.

Ingrid worked as a full-time chemist for the past seven years and a full-time musician praying and working hard to share her gift with the world as a songwriter, composer, and producer for herself as well as others.

After performing her music live more and more, Ingrid realized she loved the energy of what it sounds and feels like to have other musicians interpret the music she creates. Just as the campus of Tuskegee University was the breeding ground for the Commodores and Lionel Richie, and Ohio was the birthplace of so many creative individuals, maybe the combination of the two is the recipe for a dream that won’t be deferred.
