OAK HOUSE

Oak House is a band built on deftly balanced juxtaposition — an experiment in the visceral and contemplative, the base and the beautiful. Rock music at it's core, the writing of frontman Gresham Cash expresses palpable tension — it's an investigation of life's inevitable conflicts.

Comprised of frontman and guitarist Gresham Cash, drummer Wes Gregory and bassist Connor Sabula, the band formed in Athens, Georgia during the winter of 2014. Since, they've grown a reputation for their violent, high energy shows and strikingly inventive sound. Oak House plays a heavy synthesis of melodic indie rock, psychedelic, experimental and grunge, though Cash finds most of his inspiration for songwriting in classical, jazz, Eastern melody and contemporary, minimal instrumental music. Their sound is cinematic, sweeping and immensely moving with droning, frenetic guitars, decaying synth, fragmented, dark piano and pulsing, immersive rhythms.

EASTER ISLAND

Formed by brothers Ethan and Asher Payne in 2010, Easter Island creates panoramic, post-rock inspired dream pop. Behind the wall of towering drums, glassy guitars, and the forceful tide of synthesizers, hide soft-spoken melodies, tender harmonies, and understated musings on the subtle, yet visceral moments in life.

Often compared to sonic pioneers of the 90s and 00s, Explosions In Sky, My Bloody Valentine, Pedro The Lion, and Sigur Rós, Easter Island makes no compromise to explore unknown sonic territory, embodying the “feeling that you’d stumbled onto something great...knowing that you had a potential game changer in your hands” (Pop Matters).

In 2011, Easter Island’s “Proud” from the debut EP, Better Things, was featured on ABC’s Off The Map. Their debut LP, Frightened, was released July 2012.

WISE WORDS

Formed in 2014 by brothers Cole and Dexter Carpenter, the five-man group’s frontman and bassist respectively, Wise Words has brought a refreshing post-rock sound to the Dayton, Ohio music circuit.

Wise Words has managed to pair their lyrical framework based on the fragility of the human experience with inescapable walls of drums from Caleb Morris, Christian Frey’s sweeping guitar, and an underlying foreboding synth structure from Donny Wolf. Underneath the controlled chaos, Carpenter’s songwriting forces listeners to answer life’s never ending questions of self doubt, the physical, and the spiritual.

Influenced by groups such as Manchester Orchestra, O’ Brother, and Explosions in the Sky, the group has taken their hard rooted base and curated a unique palate of their own. Released in 2016, Wise Words’ debut LP Expectation expanded upon 2014’s debut EP, teetering the line between powerful, avalanche-like crescendos and brief introductions of lazy summer jazz, all while maintaining the same lyrical posture of openness and growth.
