Students from School of Rock Mason, School of Rock Cincinnati, and School of Rock Northern Kentucky are coming together to present a benefit concert on multiple stages at The Southgate House Revival on Sunday, December 1 from 6-8pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm!
Ticket proceeds will be donated to the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina’s Emergency and Disaster Response Fund, which will use the funds to help those whose lives have been upended by Hurricane Helene.
More than 100 students from the three schools will perform throughout the evening, playing a variety of music, including hits from Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, and the British Invasion, as well as from old-school blues artists and modern indie-rockers.
“We are very proud of our kids for stepping up to help those who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene,” says Tim Garry, owner of School of Rock Mason. “We know from what we have experienced from the news that the need is great. It’s heartwarming to see the kids respond by using their musical talent to pull together this benefit concert. A special shout out to The Southgate House Revival for partnering with us as host so that ticket proceeds can be donated to the cause without a rental charge.”
School of Rock helps aspiring musicians master skills, unleash creativity, and develop tools they need to thrive in life. Founded as a single school in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1998, School of Rock has become a rapidly growing international franchise with over 350 schools open and in development across 15 global markets. Since 2009, School of Rock has grown student count from 4,000 to over 50,000. School of Rock offers a wide variety of music lessons, including lessons in guitar, bass, drums, piano/keys, and voice. A key aspect of School of Rock is coupling lessons with performance-based programs that get students rehearsing and performing on-stage so that they can actually employ what they are learning. The performance element greatly increases engagement and makes learning music a fun activity.
The School of Rock Mason location opened in 2012, and its students have put on more than 200 shows since opening. The School of Rock Cincinnati location opened in 2018. The School of Rock Northern Kentucky location opened in 2021. Combined, the three locations are currently serving more than 600 area students.
