This Friday, September 27th do NOT miss Siri Imani, Knotts, and Mockery at Fountain Square for Indie Fridays Powered by CincyMusic!
Siri Imani is one of Cincinnati's most prolific arts curators and hip hop artists known for creating spaces and setting the stage for upcoming talent. Imani weaves song and poetry together to tell powerful stories of love and liberation, state and personal violence, social, environmental, racial, and sexual justice, women’s empowerment, and human transcendence. She openly, and poetically reflects on her life as a lesbian, black, inner-city youth and former college athlete. Siri Imani is a boundary-breaking soul sister who has sharpened her art as a tool for popular education, community organizing, and personal transcendence. She is a warrior-woman writer not afraid to tell her personal truths and make biting social commentary on the world we live in.
KNOTTS loops in and out of art pop and indie soul. The band's members consist of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Adalia Powell-Boehne, Keyboardist Antoine Franklin, guitarist Jordan Wilson, and drummer Isaiah Cook. Adalia possesses a truly one-of-a-kind plaintive voice, her songs are grounded with a strong sense of someone searching for her place in the world, that might sound like faint praise but in a world full of show-off vocal hysterics KNOTT'S songs feel intimate and real.
Mockery is the music project from Mitch Klein, combining both spiritual and grounded lyrics with warm pianos and synths. He started writing music in high school and put Mockery together as a 3 piece band back in 2016. Mockery's newest album, Megafauna, was released in March 2024. The LP displays a wide range of genre inspiration from synth-pop to folk and blues.
