1 Electro is a new band with some serious roots in the Cincinnati music scene. These bona fides date back to seminal Cincinnati bands Middlemarch, Roundhead, and more recently Royal Holland, Black Owls, and The Ready Stance (among many more)! Their music is delivered with the energy of artists still surprising themselves and each other.
Comprised of Matt Mooney (lead vox & guitar), Wesley Pence (vox & guitar), Kip Roe (vox & bass), and Brian Kitzmiller (Drums); these fellas are vets of the scene and they can't wait to melt your face off. It's a good thing you will have the opportunity to get that face melted this Friday on Fountain Square for Indie Fridays Powered by CincyMusic!
Want to know more about 1 Electro? So did we. Luckily we had the chance to get to know 1 Electro before the show this Friday!
For those not in the know, introduce yourselves!
Kip Roe: Kip Roe, bass. I've been actively playing in the Cincinnati Music scene since 1987 when I joined Doc & the Pods (later known only as The Pods), playing classic Cincy venues such as Sudsy Malone's, Dollar Bills, Daniels Pub, Bogarts, and the notorious Jockey Club in Newport, KY (including the legendary final show). Besides the Pods, I've played in MANY bands through the years, most notably Fat Dog (w/ Chris Koltay), the Loose Wrecks, the Turnstiles, & Dr. Driftwood (W/ Ric Hickey), and Roundhead {w/ Dan McCabe). Most recently, I've shared the stage with Brian Kitzmiller as a member of Black Owls.
Brian Kitzmiller: We are 4 people from 5O different bands it seems!
What can we expect at a live 1 Electro show?
Kip Roe: I can say that the chemistry and the vibe amongst my band members, Wes, Matt, and Brian are the most positive and natural I have felt in decades and the generation of new songs has been natural and prolific.
Brian Kitzmiller: I would say a pretty unique brand of straight Rock, PowerPop with elements of our influences from our other original projects and if you like QOTSA, Beck, Pavement, REM jangle guitars, Ass Ponys, Bowie, and more, you’ll like this. Very energized songs with a blanket of sound. We are not a quiet band.
What is next for 1electron?
Kip Roe: Being that 1 Electro's members have a combined 256 years of experience under our belts, our simple expectations for the future are to continue to create loud, original, energetic, kinetic music for anyone who cares to listen for as long as we can play our instruments.
Brian Kitzmiller: We are currently on our first recording with about 10 in place to be released before the New Year. We will be playing in the Region through Spring, especially getting our chops in Cincy first.
