Cincinnati shoegaze trio Slow Glows (Kelli Redding, Rachel Thode, and Rae Fisher) are set to release their sophomore album, But What Do I Know on Friday, April 29th, 2022, as the follow up to their 2019 debut Stargaze Rock n Roll. The new album - also recorded and mixed on analog tape at Mt Saturn Studios in Cincinnati - features Slow Glows’ familiar blend of raw garage-tinged shoegaze and hazy reverb-driven melodies. This album also highlights the addition of a new bassist and marks a re-entry for the band back into live music as the creative world began to navigate the new normals of a scene post-pandemic.
The tracklist for the album includes their brand new single “Cast a Shadow.” They worked with longtime friend and collaborator Nickolas Higginson on the music video for the song that reflects the dreamy mood and atmosphere they had in mind when writing it. The song itself represents the passing of time and taking a moment to pause and appreciate what that means to you - that sometimes it’s alright to let your emotions run their course and dwell within them. And that if you need a bit of time to check out or slow down in life, that’s totally fine.
The band will release the new album digitally and on vinyl via their local label Rose Hill Records on April 29th. Both formats will be available for purchase on Bandcamp. The band will embark on a two week tour in support of the album, with their tour kickoff beginning in Columbus, OH on April 29th at Ruby Tuesday Live with support from Fizzed. The band’s tour homecoming show and local record release party will take place at Northside Tavern in Cincinnati on Saturday May 14th with support from The Harlequins, Culture Queer, and Witch’s Meadow.
