When UFO brings their Last Orders 50th Anniversary Tour into Cincinnati next week, they will also be bringing with them heavy metal supergroup Last in Line as their opener. Formed in 2012, the band’s stellar line-up includes drummer Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell), guitarist Vivian Campbell (Dio, Whitesnake, Def Leppard), vocalist Andrew Freeman (Lynch Mob, The Offspring, Devil’s Hand) and bassist Phil Soussan (Ozzy, Billy Idol).
Their first album Heavy Crown was released in 2016, landing at #1 on Billboard’s Heat-Seekers chart. From the opening notes of “Devil In Me”, this album is straight-up, no frills, in-your-face heavy rock. “Starmaker” is a standout that has become a tribute to the late Dio bassist Jimmy Bain during live performances. Fist-pumping anthem “I Am Revolution” is reminiscent of Dio’s “We Rock” while Appice’s thunderous drumming is prominently featured in “Already Dead”.
Continuing to build upon their unique style and sound, they released their second album II earlier this year. With its immediate debut on the Classic Rock Radio charts at #25, the songs on this album are well-written and show a real progression as the band carves out their place in the heavy metal world. “Year of the Gun” and “Landslide” are the first two releases and both tracks feature the band at their best -- Freeman’s towering vocals, Campbell’s fiery guitar riffs, Soussan’s throbbing bass and Appice’s heavy, rhythmic beats.
Hardcore Dio fans will not be disappointed – along with their original material, tracks such as “Rainbow in the Dark” and “Holy Diver” are regularly included in the band’s setlist. Last in Line Is a high energy, kick-ass band that promises to be the perfect opener to set the tone for UFO on their final tour.
UFO’s Last Orders 50th Anniversary Tour with openers Last in Line are performing at Bogart’s on October 22, 2019. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm. This show is general admission.
