Big Something- After Hours Live on 9/22 at Fretboard Brewing

Blue Ash’s Fretboard Brewing Company is throwing a big party to kick off their ‘After Hours Live’ concert series -- tapping North Carolina’s Big Something for their September 22nd event. After Hours Live events are ticketed events that take place in the Fretboard taproom that promise to periodically bring in regional and national touring bands to the bar’s performance area.

Big Something is a fitting kick-off to the series- a band that has an enormous stage presence and energy that earns them spots at summer festivals across the country. Big Something is a true modern era rock band that fuses prog rock intricacies with reggae, jam/improvisation, funk and more. They opened for prog/jam standard bearers Umphrey’s McGee several times over the last couple years, and I interviewed them before their two-night Taft Theater stand in January 2018. As discussed then, the band is all about two things: bring any and every music style to surface in their live performances and make sure that they and the crowd have a lot of fun.

I can get on board with that any night. I’m also on board with a brewery bringing in nationally touring bands. The After Hours Live series is a refreshing site outside of downtown/Northern Kentucky and a nice compliment to the showcasing of our surplus of local talent. Tickets for Big Something are on sale now and are cheaper than at the door.
