Seattle indie-pop singer Hibou is playingat MOTR Pub on Wednesday, July 31st with Dark Colour, and Culture Queer!
Hibou is the project of musician Peter Michel, who crafts airy, vespertine pop songs that sound as plush as they are crisp and deliberate. Hibou’s 2015 self-titled debut, a home recorded album that gained notice from the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, and Consequence of Sound, who praised the way, “each track shimmers with the enthusiasm of Seattleites on the first emergence of cloud breaks, but has the looming sense of introspection that comes with bedroom pop.”
On Halve, Hibou's third full length album, Michel creates a characteristically ethereal record addressing the dichotomies between childhood and adulthood, self and society, authenticity and superficiality. The outcome is a work filled with swooning, hazy reflections on loss, love, nostalgia, and joy from a 10,000-foot view.
