Northside brewery and live music venue Urban Artifact is offering eclectic programming in their Taproom Lounge every Monday night this year.
"Monday is typically the hardest night of the week to book from a band aspect," says Music/Entertainment Booking Coordinator Jeremy Moore. "People are typically worn out from seeing music on the weekends when Monday rolls around, so I figured I'd institute events where folks can take it easy and relax while still taking in quality educational and musical entertainment."
Urban Artifact COO Scott Hand says, "Urban Artifact has always highlighted incredible local artists in addition to our interesting beers. A key part of our taproom experience is education - learning about yeast, fruits, new music, and more. Our new Monday evening lessons series will provide a deeper look at some of the things that interest us the most and showcase some topics that will help develop your palate, ears, and mind."
These recurring events will take place on alternating Monday evenings.
Every first Monday will be the Homebrewed Independent Filmmakers series spearheaded by Katharine Steele. She will be showing films from local, regional and national independent filmmakers along with Q&A.
Every second Monday will feature the Inkwell Poetry Open Mic series where local writers and poets can showcase their writings on stage. This all-ages event has a suggested $2 cover to help support featured artists, but no one will be turned away at the door. Bring your words (up to two poems and five minutes total per performer) to share.
Third Mondays will be Radio Artifact Featured Videoseries where two bands/musicians will take the stage to video record short sets for RA's upcoming YouTube channel. Radio Artifact is an independent radio station broadcasting on 91.7 FM HD2 / 1660 AM in Northside and features an eclectic array of radio programs and music streaming 24/7. You can also check out Radio Artifact on www.radioartifact.com and through the WVXU downloadable phone app.
Fourth Mondays will be the Urban Artifact 101 series where on alternating months, UA will feature a different educational event dealing with subject matter relevant to happening at the brewery, including:
Production 101- UA's sound engineer Devin Brooks will be giving a crash course on aspects of the world of music production, ranging from proper setup to the intricacies of sound mixing and much more.
Brewing 101 - Bret Baker, one of Urban Artifact's owners and Brew Master will be helming a brewing education series, discussing the ins and outs of the beer world.
Booking 101 - UA Booking coordinator Jeremy Moore will be talking about subjects dealing with how to properly book your band at venues and proper booking etiquette.
