He kicks it up a notch this year, bringing in special guest, Sammi Garett from the Brooklyn-based band, Turkuaz. Super funkateers Rico Lewis (George Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic) and “Razor Sharp” Johnson (Bootsy Collins’ Rubber Band) will round out the final line-up. The pair, along with Garett, also star in a music video for the new Freekbass single, “Steppin’ Outta Line,” which had over 160,000 views on YouTube in its first month. The single was co-written band produced by another Cincinnati native, Itaal Shur, who won a Grammy award for the song “Smooth” by Santana.

Freekbass says he wants to get creative with the show this year and plans to make this an audience-immersive experience.

“It’s always special playing at home, and this year we are going to turn it up a bit,” hints Freekbass. “Our friend Sammi (Garett) always takes things to another level with her talent and style, and we have a few other surprises in store too.”
