Madeline Kenney

Madeline Kenney just released her superb sophomore album Perfect Shapes, produced by Jenn Wassner of Wye Oak and Flock of Dimesvia Carpark Records. She is taking the new material on the road with a stop in Cincinnati at MOTRPub on Thursday, November 8th!

Perfect Shapes arrives just a year after Kenney's Toro y Moi-produced debut album Night Night at the First Landing, and proves to be an unexpected leap forward in both composition and musicality. Recorded in Durham, NC in January 2018, five months after the release of Night Night, Perfect Shapes marks Jenn Wassner's first foray into producing another artist's work, and the album is permeated by the pair's collaborative spirit, with both artists playing multiple instruments on the record. Dealing with subjects of femininity, societal pressures, expectation, value and self-worth, Kenney stands tall in a moment of musical bravery and personal clarity.

"Madeline Kenney's first album... was an introspective but open-hearted release of enormous promise, showcasing the singer's captivating voice and knack for a razor-sharp lyric. If that record was all promise, her just-announced follow-up, Perfect Shapes, seems likely to be the realization of that potential." - Consequence of Sound
