Shortly is a solo project belonging to Detroit native Alexandria Maniak. Her haunting debut single, “Matthew”, produced by Mat Kerekes, is threaded by vulnerability and consequence, enlightened by circumstance, and curated by honest and earnest reflection. In just over a year, Maniak has already shared stages with artists like Mitski, Title Fight, Jeff Rosenstock, Tiny Moving Parts, Half Waif, Tancred, and Mom Jeans. New works are forthcoming in 2018 on Triple Crown Records, with production from Joe Reinhart (Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, Hop Along).
Her forthcoming debut EP was produced Joe Reinhart from Hop Along and showcases Maniak’s confessional songwriting and emotionally-charged lyrics. Shortly has already shared stages with the likes of The Decemberists, Phoebe Bridgers, and Mitski and recently just performed at Mo Pop alongside the likes of Bon Iver and St. Vincent. She’s incredibly smart and is passionate about mental health and social issues.
