Volk is the dynamic duo that roars with a mix of high-octane Rock n Roll, classic Country swagger, and heart-shattering Soul. After cutting their teeth in the dim-lit bars of Europe, Volk decided to take their music home to the US in Spring 2016. Since settling down in Nashville, Volk has opened for such acts as Left Lane Cruiser, Royal Thunder, Diarrhea Planet, Mayeux & Broussard, The Ghost Wolves, Brother O’ Brother, catl, and John Evans.
In Details finds its identity at the three-way intersections of songwriting obsession, the need for charisma, and a yearning for release. The music combines acoustic warmth and digital shine over a dynamic yet steady rhythm. The lyrics desperately exude longing and heartbreak, yet the songs are wrought with affection.
At the turn of the millennium, Dan Phillips created Zapruder Point, writing and recording under that band name for over 15 years in Chicago. Now in Cincinnati, Dan plans to release a series of singles throughout 2018. Solo E.P. Stars + Specks dropped earlier this year. Pitched somewhere between Ryan Adams and Waxahatchee, Stars + Specks is an intimate listen, captured (mostly) live with just vocals and acoustic guitar. In it, Zapruder Point offers up songs of unsentimental nostalgia, expectation and loss, and the comforts and inevitable contusions of living in the world.
