Celebrate the King: 75 Years of Honoring the King

Celebrate the 75th Year of King Records with Artists, Live Performances, Storytellers, Writers, Videos and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

This is an opportunity for the King Records community to come together and provide a unique experience developing awareness, community building and celebration for all the artists and musicians of King Records for the first 75 Years and beyond. A portion of proceeds from the night will go to help save the building at 1540 Brewster Avenue, the original building of True American Music, and to help artists and musicians of King Records.

Celebrate the King: The Gala on Saturday, August 25thwill be a special night for King Records and the City of Cincinnati. With Memorial Hall as the home of the 75th anniversary gala for King Records, take a look back to remember the inventive talent, the many genres of music created by all different types of artists and musicians from around America creating and leading the charge, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • 5pm James Brown Productions Panel (Catered) with Alan Leeds(James Brown’s Manager), Sisters of Righteous(James Brown’s backup singers), RJ Smith(King Records Author) and Kick Lee(Cincinnati Music Accelerator), produced by Brian Powers(Cincinnati Public Library)
  • 7p Celebrate the King main gala featuring Philip Paul, Otis Williams, Bootsy Collins, C. Smith, Courtis Fuller, School of Rock, Cincinnati USA Music Heritage Foundation, King Studios, Bootsy Foundationand many, many more!
  • 10p After Party at Memorial Hall with Bryan Dilsizian, Cincy Stories, King Me, Shake It Records, Art Academy of Cincinnati, We Have Become Vikingsand many, many more

Being showcased will be many King Records voices from Cincinnati and beyond. There will be videos that highlight artists and musicians. There will also be many musicians and performances backed by the incredible School of Rock, featuring some of Cincinnati's most talented youth artists with special cameo appearances by King Records recording artists, family and friends. Four Lifetime Achievement Awards will also be celebrated.
