Valerie June brings her take on a mixture of folk, blues, gospel, soul, country, and bluegrass to Memorial Hall TONIGHT! If you missed her at MPMF or want to catch one of the best shows of the year, you won’t want to miss out.
June has been recording and performing since 2000. So, while she may seem like an overnight success, she has more than paid her dues. After self-releasing three albums, she signed with Concord Music Group in 2013. Her debut album on the label, “Pushin’ Against a Stone” put her on the musical map. June has said about that album, "I feel I've spent my life pushing against a stone. And the jobs I've had have been fitting for getting a true feel for how the traditional artists I loved came home after a hard day to sit on the porch and play tunes until bedtime." Last year June released “The Order of Time” to acclaimed reviews.
