Andy Shaw Band Takes Bob Marley Tribute Throughout Ohio

73. That is how old Bob Marley would have been on February 6th of this year. His messages advocating for social change and the unification of good people during times of unrest and oppression are just as relevant today as they were in the 1970s. The magic and beauty in Marley’s music is that he was able to deliver those messages in a positive and affirming way while simultaneously leaving listeners with no choice but to forget their troubles and dance.

In the month of February, the Andy Shaw Band takes the opportunity to pay tribute to the music of Marley, bringing an easy reggae groove and island warmth to blustery Ohio. “This is our 5th year doing this tribute and it gets better every year. Bob’s music is an inspiration on so many levels and his socially conscious spirit is a great message, especially in these crazy times. I am honored to share the stage with so many wonderful musicians this year.” says Andy Shaw.

The first of two Columbus shows will be with the Ark Band (2/9 at A&R Music Bar) and the second with Bob Ras, Lungu Vybz, and special guests (2/15 at Woodlands). The Andy Shaw Band will also be welcomed in Cincinnati (2/8 at Urban Artifact) and in Cleveland (2/10 at Mahalls). Andy Shaw states that “Building this community of artists that have the opportunity to connect with the spirit of Marley while adding their own distinctive take is something we are so proud to be a part of and thrilled to be able to share with audiences throughout Ohio.”
