Rock with ROOM FOR ZERO on New Year’s Eve

What are you doing for New Year’s Eve? Going to The Woodward Theater to see ROOM FOR ZERO, Blessid Union of Souls, and Roger Klug Power Trio? I thought so. It’s going to be a special night with a complimentary midnight champagne toast, Eli’s BBQ, and a surprise!

We got the chance to chat with frontman of ROOM FOR ZERO, Ian Ford about this exciting show!

New Year's Eve is going to be a special treat! How did you get hooked up with Blessid Union of Souls and the Roger Klug Power Trio?
At the release show for our EP, "You Used To Say I'm The Only One", in September, we had a lot of Cincinnati greats in attendance. It was a debutante ball of sorts for us, and was a true showcase of ROOM FOR ZERO and where we are heading. After the release show, our manager was put in touch with Blessid Union's manager and they worked to put this New Year's Eve show together. I've had the pleasure to have watched Roger's jaw-dropping guitar antics since I was a youngster. So when he was brought on the bill with the announced return of the Power Trio, I was rather excited to say the least.

What New Year’s traditions do you do each year? Do you make a resolution list or eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day?
Personally, I try not to make New Year resolutions - that way I won't disappoint myself if I forget them. It's not very inspiring, but I haven't disappointed myself yet!

As a band, we have had big goals from the beginning, and over the last year we've ensured every little action is moving us towards those ambitions. I think a celebratory glass of Scotch will be in order.

What special surprises are planned for the show that you can reveal?
I probably shouldn't reveal much. I will say though, if it's been a while since you've seen ROOM FOR ZERO, you need to see this performance.

What is next for ROOM FOR ZERO?
We've worked our live shows to be a cohesive, always-moving "experience" with ebb and flow - kind of like listening to a classic album all the way through. So, we simply cannot wait for our 2018 performances! We're looking towards more regional shows this spring, and music festivals this summer.

Also, back when we put together the tracks for the EP, we had so much more waiting in the wings. We have a lot of demo bits recorded, and I have so much music in my head. Making time to get more music out will be on our 2018 schedule as well.
