Ben Stalets heads to The Southgate House Revival

Ben Stalets has a Hank Williams howl and deep-rooted, sturdy fingerpicking style that make you feel like he’s telling tales as old as time. Catch him at The Southgate House Revival on Thursday!

Ben’s medley of soundscape allows him to open for a very diverse collection of critically acclaimed acts, such as; Valerie June, Whitey Morgan, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Local H, and Icarus Account.

We sat down with Ben prior to the FREE show this Thursday!

Give us some background on Ben Stalets…
A fresh 28. My hairs about a medium length (the "awkward stage" if you will). I play folk music with an acoustic guitar which is a very rare combination.

What can one expect at a live show?
A couple good songs. An off note or two. Feeble attempts at humor to make up for a lost emotion. Some slow, some fast. But a "real" feeling in the sense that it's not very contrived.

What is your favorite thing about touring?
Overcoming great mental odds. Also, connecting with the people that like listening to my songs. It's cliché, but it's the best feeling I could imagine when somebody cares. I also like when Noelle makes me begrudgingly stop at touristy attractions. Seeing friends.

What is next for Ben Stalets?
Smaller tours throughout the rest of the year. A new album. Nothing big to speak of, right now. I'll let you know if anything changes.
