Leading up to the release of their debut album, LA alternative band LANY is continuing their US tour and is heading to Cincinnati on Monday May 8th at 20th Century Theatre.
'LANY' is an acronym for 'Los Angeles New York'. Bandmember Paul Klein addressed the name in an interview, saying that they thought of the span across the country from LA to New York (LANY) after going through several aesthetic four-letter word band names.
Formed in March 2014, they uploaded their first two songs “Hot Lights” and “Walk Away” to SoundCloud prior to the release of their debut EP, Acronyms, with top-rated single “ILYSB” being named the most streamed song on Spotify's Discover Weekly. In 2015, they did a festival appearance at Lollapalooza following a supporting tour with several bands including X Ambassadors, Halsey, Tove Styrke, and more. They also did a UK tour as an opener for Ellie Goulding in early 2016, stripping back their “ILYSB” hit to a simpler live version. In 2016, they played Bonnaroo, Firefly, and Outside Lands following their headline US tour, “The Make Out Tour.”
On top of their touring success thus far, they also have over 100 million streams on Spotify alone, are the most streamed artist through Spotify’s Discover weekly feature and the number one emerging artist on Billboard’s Emerging New Artist chart.
The band, comprised of Jake Goss, Paul Klein and Les Priest, is preparing for the upcoming release of their debut album LANY on June 30th via Interscope Records. Singles from the album including “Good Girls,” “The Breakup” and “13” were released in March and April. The album will contain their breakthrough release single “ILYSB” as a tribute to their ongoing success and initial fanbase.
Tickets are still available for their show on Monday May 8th at 20th Century Theatre in Cincinnati here. Doors open at 7 p.m. with show set to begin around 8 p.m. For more information on LANY, their new album, or to listen to their latest hits, visit their homepage or https://soundcloud.com/thisislany.
