Current Events are in line for an amazing year. The indie/post rock band is one of the few local bands to have been selected to play Bunbury Music Festival this year and then in will be opening for The Bright Light Social Hour on Fountain Square on July 7th! You can also check them out this Friday at The Southgate House Revival for Revenge of the 5th.
We jumped at the chance to chat with Current Events prior to their exciting summer!
Congrats on being one of the very few local bands to play Bunbury Music Festival! Tell us how you felt when you found out…
When we found out about Bunbury, it felt like a huge adrenaline dump. It was such an exciting phone call to receive. It really is just an honor for our band name to be on a list of bands that we grew up listening to, it's hard to describe any other way.
What can those who have not seen you play live before expect?
For everyone that has not seen us live, we feel like we have a lot in store for them. We recently got a new band member and we will be performing a lot of new material as well. We definitely feel like this lineup is finally us at our best and we couldn't be more anxious to show it.
What bands are you looking forward to checking out/networking with at Bunbury?
As far as the entire festival goes, we are way too excited to watch Death Cab for Cutie, The Shins and AFI. Those are bands we grew up on. For Saturday, which is our day, we're very excited to watch VHS Collection and a legend like Tech N9ne as well as see how fun a huge EDM show with Bassnectar and Pretty Lights can be.
What is next for Current Events?
Next for us is going to be putting out a new untitled album this year around the fall, playing some out of town shows this summer and working on getting on MidPoint Music Festival's lineup. Also, catch us July 7th at Fountain Square with Jettison and Bright Light Social Hour.
