The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and 90.9 WGUC announced an expansion of their concert broadcast partnership dubbed “CSO In Concert.” The radio station has long recorded the CSO’s live concerts for broadcast on WGUC Sunday evenings January-May. With this expanded collaboration, the concerts will continue to air on the radio on Sundays, while also being available for free streaming on the CSO’s website for the week following the original air date, allowing even more fans near and far to experience the Orchestra’s performances.
“Having the concert broadcasts available online allows even more fans both near and far to experience the CSO’s performances,” said Chris Pinelo, the CSO’s Vice President of Communications. “This Orchestra has long served as Cincinnati’s ambassador to the world, and we’re delighted that these exceptional live recordings from WGUC will reach music lovers around the world thanks to this new digital platform.”
“Our regular Sunday night broadcast of CSO concerts has a long tradition and is one of our most valued community services. So we are especially excited to offer additional listening opportunities for CSO fans near and far throughout the week online,” said Chris Phelps, Vice President for Content at Cincinnati Public Radio. “These are superb recordings of incredible performances, so we want as many people to experience them as possible.”
WGUC will continue to record and air all of the CSO’s subscription season performances, as well as select special and gala concerts. The 2016-17 season will begin airing Sunday, January 8, 2017, with one concert featured each week through the end of May. Listeners can tune in to 90.9 WGUC at 8 p.m. on Sunday evenings or go HERE for streaming throughout the week.
