“Stick It To Me” Blood Drive at SGHR

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is asking music lovers and those with tattoos or piercings to give blood at the “Stick It To Me” Blood Drive on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

SGHR Blood Drive

The event will be at The Southgate House Revival, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 15. All donors will receive a Southgate House Revival pint glass and be entered to win gift cards from Skincraft Tattoo & Piercing, Asylum Tattoo, Designs by Dana Tattoo, Beelistic Tattoo, Get Up Tattoo Society, Newport Pizza, Coaches Corner and The Southgate House Revival.

“One of the most common misconceptions about blood donation is that people with tattoos or piercings cannot donate, which usually isn’t true,” said Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. “If the tattoo was performed at a licensed facility and is healed, most can donate. We’re hoping that this drive will help clear up the myths and inspire new blood donors to roll up their sleeves on a regular basis.”

Donors who have a tattoo, permanent make-up or body piercing may donate if it was performed at a licensed facility in Ohio, Kentucky, and most other states.  If the tattoo or piercing was not received in a licensed facility, donors are deferred for 12 months from the date of the application.

The “Stick It To Me” blood drive is being supported by Arts Ink, Asylum Tattoo, Beelistic Tattoo, Skincraft Piercing & Tattoo, Designs By Dana, White Whale Tattoo, Flying Tiger Tattoo, Get Up Tattoo Society, Newport Pizza and Coaches Corner.

The Southgate House Revival is located at 111 E. 6th Street in Newport, KY.  Appointments for blood donation are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors can schedule appointments by calling (513) 451-0910 or by scheduling online HERE.
