JSPH to Perform New Project Locally

JSPH, also known as Joseph Nevels, will release Breathe, a sultry progressive mix of soul and pop featuring his vocals, on September 16th.  Breathe is a record that crosses the sonics of today's music with the musical sensibilities of the early 90's and is reminiscent of artists such as NAO, D' Angelo and The Internet.  On September 16th, Nevels will perform “Breathe” and other songs at Bogart’s in Cincinnati’s Corryville neighborhood.  Daniel In Stereo, who’s performed at Bunbury Music Festival will open up the night. Doors open at 7pm.

JSPH is an emerging star on the indie/soul/progressive music scene, having just signed a publishing agreement with Heyday Media of Los Angeles. His music is continuously being streamed in both the US and internationally. Countries such as the UK, Philippines, Brazil, Sweden and Canada are among his top online streamers.  He has earned nominations from CityBeat as Cincinnati’s “New Artist of the Year” and “Best Soul/R&B/Funk Artist” for 2016.  He was recently featured on Radio One's Power 107.5 in Columbus.

JSPH has also earned accolades for his two EP releases, Rest and Rule, and is at work on Abide, the third EP in the trilogy. Additionally, viewers will hear his work in the Lifetime Channel movie, “Wuthering High School”, starring James Caan.

JSPH said his music career represents a triumph of faith over perceptions of success. JSPH initially followed his brother into a legal career, considering it a safe, respectable choice. But while at the Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, he found that lyrics, not law ignited his passion. “I cheated on my first love,” he said of his growing awareness of a gift for music. “I sometimes wrote lyrics in my Casebooks while my professors went on about ‘Dicta and Precedent’.”

Once he graduated in 2014, JSPH decided to follow his faith and fully devote his passion to his singing career.
