Cincinnati’s very own JSPH will headline at Northside’s Urban Artifact this Friday night alongside Cleveland’s Marcus Alan Ward (MAW). Marcus Alan Ward will begin the night with JSPH to follow. The show begins at 10 pm.
Nominated for CityBeat’s New Artist of the Year Award, JSPH, is taking Cincinnati’s music scene to a whole new level; think pop-soul with r&b tendencies - The Weeknd meets Sam Cooke. He’s had stand out performances in Cincinnati music lovers’ favorites like MidPoint Music Festival, Ubahn Festival, and Bogarts. He’s also taken the show on the road to Los Angeles and Chicago. JSPH, a Chase Law graduate, landed a publishing deal with LA based Heyday Media Group for which he’s had musical placements in Lifetime Channel’s Wuthering High School movie. He currently has two EP’s of a three part project available on iTunes, Rest and Rule, and is currently finalizing the last:Abide to be released this year.
Marcus Alan Ward, the self-taught instrumentalist with a trippy r&b vibe will be opening the night. Born and raised in Cleveland, MAW has been recognized by highly sought after music magazines like Pitchfork and Fader. He, too, performed in last year’s MidPoint Music Festival and will be bringing back his mystical acid-r&b to Cincinnati this Friday. His full length album, Last Night I Grew Tentacles, debuted in 2014.
