We sat down with DB4D prior to the showcase to get some background on this award winning group!
Give us some background on DB4D…
DB4D Stands for Death B4 Dishonor and consists of 3 members, Jhooks, Taliban Turf and Yungboii. we hit the music scene in 2013 when we went to Quad Studios NYC and recorded our first single Something New featuring Love and hip hop NYC's own Lore'l. Shortly after we dropped our first EP Death B4 Dishonor the Ep, later in 2013 we dropped our single featuring former Dipset member Jr Writer Titled Never Change Up which we recorded with him in Da Bronx and headlined a show in Brooklyn NYC with Cory Gunz, and also dropped our mixtape Death B4 Dishonor the Mixtape Vol 1.
Jhooks went to prison for a year and it kind of set back the group. In 2013, we won 3 awards at the NKY Greater Cincinnati Hip Hop Awards for best group, ‘Best Live Performance’ and ‘Best Album’. Jhooks was released in August of 2015 and in October we dropped our latest project DB4D, Reloaded the Album.
What can one expect at a live DB4D show?
DB4D has been known to put together some of the best shows in the city. Great talent and always a packed drama free event.
Tell us about your writing process…
Started writing at the age of 12, we usually will create a hook and have a beat made or select a beat and get in the zone and write from there, we have allot of tracks featuring RNB artists, Jhooks writes the RNB hooks and usually have the singer sing what we come up with.
What is next for DB4D?
Currently DB4D is working on our next project and also have some moves going on with a management team in LA. We are grinding non stop until we make it to the next level. Instagram @DB4DMUSIC Twitter: @DB4DMUSIC facebook.com/db4dmusic
