Bogart’s and The Music Resource Center of Cincinnati are excited to announce a partnership to revive the High School Band Challenge at Bogart’s! The event will be deemed New Noise Cincy and will take place on Friday, January 16th. This event is the revival of the high school band challenge, which was a hit amongst high school musicians back in the mid 2000’s. Any teen musician, grade 7-12, can apply for consideration to perform. All selected performers will get instant, in person feedback on their performance from industry professionals and musicians and one grand prize winner will get a professional recording package with MRC. Tickets for this event will go on-sale on Monday, December 14th at 10:00am.

- There’s no cost to sign up or participate.
- Participants are selected by professionals based on quality of applications, which means you don’t have to do a certain amount of pre-sale to earn a time slot (AKA “Pay to Play”). However, the more support you have in attendance, the better your chances of winning a grand prize are!
- Every participating band will get real-time feedback from a panel of professional musicians and people who work in the industry.
- One grand prize winner, determined by the judging panel and audience votes will win an extended multi-track recording session in MRC’s professional studio.
The only requirements for entry is that you have a musical act with a 25 minute set of mostly original music in which at least half of the performers are in 7-12 grade (with no performers being over the age of 21).
Located in East Walnut Hills, The Music Resource Center—Cincinnati is a multifaceted teen center that uses recording and performing arts, as well as life skills mentoring to create empowerment and accomplishment in our community. The Center is funded entirely by private donations and flat-fee membership for any student in grades 7-12 is $2 per month. (Scholarships are available.)
