Greensky Bluegrass Headed to 20th Century Theatre

Winning over an ever-growing national fanbase through near constant touring, Greensky has been selling out dates across the country this year. On Thursday, September 10th they will be playing at 20th Century Theatre

Since their founding at the turn of the millennium, the five members of Greensky Bluegrass have fashioned a dynamic, intoxicating sound rooted in classic stringband Americana while branching outward to effortlessly encompass an array of styles and techniques. Their fifth studio album, If Sorrows Swim was released on September 9, 2014 and distributed nationally by Thirty Tigers (Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell).

We sat down with the band prior to the show at 20th Century Theatre next Thursday!

Given you spend quite a lot of time on the road. Paint a picture of a day in the life on the road…
Usually I sleep till 10-11, then find a spot for some coffee/ breakfast. Depending where we are, I might explore, taking in a museum, ballgame or golf. Soundcheck is usually 3-4 pm, followed by dinner and then the show itself. pretty uneventful some days. I like to practice electric guitar in my spare time.

What can Cincinnati expect when they see you live in September?
The band has been playing very well lately, and it’s the first show on our fall tour, so I'm sure we'll all be excited to get out there and play music! I would expect a great show.

How did you all meet and begin performing together?
We met about 15 years ago and began performing shortly after, playing open mics and eventually shows.

What is next for Greensky?
After a big fall tour, we hope to get into the studio and start working on a new album. I would like to tour Europe as well.
