Ani DiFranco Wants You to Take Down Your Flag

Check out this new version of “Take Down Your Flag” – a song by Peter Mulvey and many others, performed by Ani DiFranco with Ivan Neville and Terence Higgins. 

Peter Mulvey wrote “Take Down Your Flag” two days following the Charleston, SC shooting on June 17. He performed it the same night at the Calvin Theater in Northampton opening a show for Ani.

For those who want to respond to the tragic event that occurred on June 17th at the Mother Emanuel Church, donations can be made by clicking on this link http://www.charleston-sc.gov.

You can download the MP3 at the Righteous Babe Store. All proceeds will be donated to the Emanuel Hope Fund, providing direct financial support for the funeral and burial expenses of the nine deceased and the Emanuel AME Church.

As of Thursday, July 9 the South Carolina state House voted 94-20 in favor to take down the Confederate Flag. GOP Gov. Nikki Haley signed the bill at 4 PM ET after which the Confederate Flag has to be taken down on state grounds within 24 hours. 

Peter Mulvey is organizing an online benefit concert for the Emanuel AME Church, featuring Mulvey, Pamela Means, Vance Gilbert, Peter Yarrow and more special guests to be announced. Pay what you can and tune in Sunday, July 12 at 3pm EDT at Concert Window.
