The event everyone has been talking about since last year is back!! Free tickets for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s LUMENOCITY are available online starting Monday, June 9, at 8 a.m. from www.lumenocity2014.com. The expanded, groundbreaking free concert experience for the community in Cincinnati’s Washington Park takes place on August 1, 2 and 3, 2014. Capacity for LUMENOCITY is 12,500 for each of the three performances, a combined 37,500 over three nights. A limit of four tickets per household for either the Friday, Saturday or Sunday night performance may be reserved. Tickets will be issued until capacity is reached. This is a rain or shine event.
Up to four (4) free tickets can be ordered per household. Those reserving must select which day they wish to attend (August 1, 2 or 3). Tickets are not exchangeable to another day, even in the event of rain. LUMENOCITY will take place rain or shine. In extreme inclement weather or with the threat of lightning, the event organizers may issue a rain delay.
The ticketed LUMENOCITY concert experience starts at 8:30 p.m. each of the respective nights, and the all-new, non-ticketed LUMENOCITY Village on the south end of Washington Park, outside of the LUMENOCITY viewing area, will be open to the public starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 1, and 11 a.m. on both Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3. The village will feature pre- concert performances in Washington Park’s bandstand, arts and crafts, and greatly expanded food and beverage services. Stay tuned to CincyMusic.com for info on pre-concert performances!
The concert will begin at 8:30 p.m. with the Orchestra performing Broadway and Americana favorites as the Cincinnati Pops under the baton of Conductor John Morris Russell. After an intermission, the light image portion of the performance begins, with the CSO performing works from Copland, John Adams, Tchaikovsky, Elgar and Borodin under the direction of Music Director Louis Langrée.
