What was the inspiration behind "Wait Around"?
Our lead singer Maya Banatwala wrote Wait Around after an enthusiastic greeting from her two dogs after a long night at work.

Give us some background on Heavy Hinges…
Heavy Hinges began in early 2012 when founding members were having a little fun playing old spiritual numbers and songs found in antique recordings of chain gangs and fishing boat crews. We found that the coarse and rustic nature of this music and the dark, yet hopeful imagery of the lyrics suited us. It was never our intention to travel down a musical path quite that narrow, however. So, we began writing our own material, frequently referencing the all this great old stuff, but remaining true to our existing foundation of r&b, blues, and rock & roll. 

What is next for Heavy Hinges?
We have some exciting shows coming up... We are playing the outdoor stage at Barrio Taquileria's Day of the Dead Celebration this Saturday, Oct. 26. We are also playing the night before Thanksgiving with The Cliftones at 20th Century Theater in Oakley. 

Anything else exciting in the works?
We plan to release a 7" single (with a digital download) in December. The official release party will be at Northside Tavern on Friday, Dec. 6 with The Black Owls and Tongue & Lips. A full length release will follow in early spring.
