One of a kind LumenoCity this weekend!

Live orchestra concert experience paired with mind blowing visual elements at Washington Park this weekend. LumenoCity kicks off a community wide celebration of Louis Langrée’s arrival as the next CSO Music Director. This groundbreaking event will consist of two free outdoor concerts at Washington Park, right across the street from Music Hall. The program will be presented on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, and both performances start at 8:30p.

The first half of the concert features John Morris Russell leading the Orchestra as the Cincinnati Pops, along with members of the May Festival Chorus, dancers from Cincinnati Ballet’s CBII, and singers from Cincinnati Opera. Selections from Broadway and film hits and Gershwin’s An American in Paris celebrates American music and provides a welcome to Mr. Langrée to his new American orchestra.

As the park grows darker with the evening sky, the second half of the program will feature Mr. Langrée as he leads the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in a riveting 40 minute program incorporating a diverse array of visual elements never before presented with a live orchestra. The diverse program consists of Strauss’ Fanfare from Also Sprach Zarathustra, the fourth movement from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Copland’s Variations on a Shaker Melody from Appalachian Spring, the fourth movement from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, and Ravel’s Bolero. The Orchestra is partnering with Landor Associates, one of the world’s preeminent brand consulting firms, to create the visual elements.

Food trucks will be available in the Emanuel Community Center parking on Race Street across from Washington Park.

Come welcome Louis Langrée and be prepared to have your mind blown!
