The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) announces the return of OTR Skate, a bi-annual adult roller skating party benefiting CRC’s Over the Rhine Recreation Center. The event is Friday, November 16 from 8-11pm at the OTR Recreation Center, 1715 Republic St. (10).
The event will feature performances by The Yugos and Indigo Wild (Columbus, OH). Skaters and music fans alike will be joined by the Cincinnati Rollergirls, Cincinnati’s Roller Derby team. Free Wii, fooseball, air hockey, pool and bumper pool is also available courtesy of the OTR Recreation Center.
Participants will be able to enter a raffle to win gift certificates and goods from OTR businesses, including Findlay Market, Moerlein Lager House, Tom & Chee, Park + Vine, Smartfish Supply, and more. All raffle proceeds will benefit the OTR Recreation Center. Cincy By the Slice will provide pizza for the event.
Admission for the event is $5, which includes the cost of skate rental. Skates are first-come, first-served and skaters are welcome to bring their own skates. OTR Skate is an 18 and older event.
November’s OTR Skate is sponsored by We Have Become Vikings, Cincy Blues Society, The Spotted Magpie, and Cincy By the Slice. The OTR Recreation Center has hosted five OTR Skate events since April 2011. To date, OTR Skate drew over 600 people and raised more than $1,600 to help the Recreation Center provide scholarships and staffing for youth programming.
The OTR Recreation Center serves downtown Cincinnati in the Over the Rhine, Pendleton, Mohawk and West End neighborhoods. The Recreation Center offers after-school homework help, seasonal programs for youth/teens, field trips and enrichment programs. Facilities include an indoor roller rink, gymnasium, weight room, kitchen, game room, teen lounge, study room, and art room.
